“Park-like conditions with little, if any, site prep”

June 13th, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in Exhibitor Updates

Passionate property owners Lewis and Bill Parker will again host Timber Expo Southeast in Appling County, some 10 miles east of Baxley. As evidenced by these photos, the Parkers take exceptional care of their slash pine plantations. (They also grow pecans.) Since they harvest pine straw annually, they keep their forest looking like a park. This 26-year-old stand, which has been thinned twice, will be clear-cut after the show and converted to a pecan orchard. Tree count is roughly 150 per acre. Average tree height is about 65 feet; average dbh 12-14 inches. Very absorbent, the soil is sandy loam and the terrain is flat to gently sloping.

Except for select tree removal to accommodate tent erection or to spot equipment, trucks, or components, little, if any, site prep work will be required on live or static sites. This means less bother and expense for exhibitors. Due to the nature of the terrain, all of any given site can be utilized.
